BSAC Diver Training Programme
The BSAC diver training programme is a structured learning process consisting of classroom lectures and practicals, pool training and finally open water training. The first qualification for non-divers is 'Ocean Diver' allowing you to dive to a depth of 20m in conditions you have experienced during your training.
It doesn't stop there though! Complimenting our training courses are a wide variety of BSAC skill development courses (SDC's) - which we run both in-house and nationally through the BSAC regional coaching teams. To compliment your training you may choose to embark on the following SDC's;

Boat Handling - Under the supervision
of qualified instructors learn to handle our powerful dive boats.
Oxygen Administration - Learn how to administer first aid for divers.
Dive Planning & Marshalling - Learn how to plan dives for yourself
and other members of your team.
Chartwork & Position Fixing - Learn how to find dive sites using
marine charts and create passage plans for the dive boats.
Nitrox Diver - Learn how to plan dives using Enriched Air Nitrox as a
breathing gas.
In time you may wish to further your training - from Ocean Diver you can progress to Sports Diver, and then Dive Leader. Further SDC's including Advanced Nitrox Diver and Extended Range Diver also become available.
"Club Nights" are every Wednesday commencing at 7pm. Pool sessions are 7pm to 9pm, and allows ample time for both student training and skill development for qualified divers. Lectures are carried out in a private class room, and all members are welcome to meet in the bar following training for socialising, diving discussion and weekly announcements!
For further information on training, agency crossover or to arrange a "try-dive" contact the diving officer, Alex Barber (see committee page for contact telephone numbers).

Diving is carried out around the UK and abroad. Local diving is mainly around the areas of North Wales, Anglesey and Liverpool Bay. We run regular trips around the UK taking in such diving 'Hot Spots' as St Abbs, Scapa Flow, Plymouth, Pembroke and The Farne Islands. Abroad we have dived in Ibiza, Tenerife, The Maldives, The Egyptian Red Sea. Major trips are planned in 2007 for Cocos, and a trip for The Galapogas is planned beyond this. All levels of experience can be catered for within the club. Diving is generally informal & relaxed, but well planned. |
